Project 3 Idea: HIV/AIDS and Aging Conference

By 2015, 50% of people diagnosed with HIV or AIDS will be over the age of fifty.

For my Project 3 website, I will be creating a website for an annual conference that I help organize. I sit on the organizing committee for the Central Texas HIV/AIDS and Aging Conference, which brings together care professionals, researchers, and activists to learn about issues related to older adults aging with HIV/AIDS diagnoses and raise awareness around the issue.

We currently don't have proper website so this would be a great opportunity to put something together so put post-conference photos on and to organize for next year's event. Also, we need and central place to list resources for people aging with AIDS/HIV. One of the main issues with older adults with HIV/AIDS diagnoses is that the aging industry in Austin (unlike in San Francisco and New York) is not aware of best practices to care for them, and how to coordinate with other resources. The goal of the event is to have more coordinated resources between the aging and AIDS community, and I think a website that reflects that is needed as well.
